FECHIMM member cooperatives are invited to submit their project.
The deadline for submitting a project has been extended to April 30.
This year FECHIMM joins the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada's (CHF Canada) Greener Co-op Microgrant Program as a sponsor alongside Caisse d'économie solidaire Desjardins and Lussier Dale Parizeau, broker for the ASSURANCES COOP program.
Now in its fourth year, the program offers grants of $500 to $4,000 to support co-operative projects that have a positive impact on the environment or reduce resource and energy consumption.
The grant could help you purchase materials, supplies and equipment. It could also help you cover the cost of contractors or consultants required for the project.
Last year, FECHIMM was able to obtain a $3,900 micro-grant to develop urban agriculture projects. The Coup double and Notre-Dame-de-Fatima cooperatives benefited from this financial support to carry out developments, but also to organize joint workshops.
To submit your cooperative's project
As a member of FECHIMM, your co-op can submit a project by completing the application form on CHF Canada's website by April 30, 2020.
To be eligible for a small grant, your project must address at least one of the following objectives:
- reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- improve air quality
- reduce water consumption
- help the co-op adapt to climate change
- increasing food self-sufficiency through community gardens
- encourage co-op members to reuse, recycle and rehabilitate
- support active transportation solutions, providing bike storage and secure bike racks
- promoting sustainable development in housing co-ops
Co-ops whose projects are successful will receive a one-time payment upon submission of receipts and the final project report. Funds are limited and will be distributed based on geographic representation, size and variety of projects.
